Abondance

A beautiful french ski resort situated down the valley 11kms from Chatel. Although Abondance itself is not connected by chair lifts to the Portes du Soleil, you can use your Portes du Soleil pass to access its 17kms of piste which are usually very quiet and a great place to go to escape any crowds.  There are ski transfers and shuttles up to La Chapelle d’Abondance and Chatel giving it access to the rest of the Portes du Soleil region. Abondance is steep in history and was the first village established back in the 5th century due to its more flat and arable farming land. With the expansion of the population, people settled further up the valley, where we know now as La Chapelle D’Abondance and then Chatel.
